On March 11,2005, Marilena finally had to clear out Adam's desk.
We found some interesting entries in his school journal . We also looked back through his school work and found more interesting and funny material.

On November 22nd/04 he wrote about the Topic: Living Forever

I would not like to live forever because eventually you would get tired of life and when you get old you wouldn't want to do anything.
But it might be good to because you can live until there is a cure for cancer and all the other diseases of the world and if the sun swallows the earth you can see it happen.
You can go on a spaceship and you would never die so you could go to another universe and go to the stars and back.
It is bad to because your family will not live forever and your friends won't live forever either and you might be sad.
You could make new friends and you can find people to live with but it just wouldn't be the same.
I go with no.

What peace means to me is no war, a loving family and a safe life.

Yes I do think we Canadians take peace for granted because we don't think about the people in the 3rd world countries when we play and have fun.

In Grade 5 he tried to justify why he should be class prime minister:

Hello ladies and gentlmen of grade 5.  I think I should be class primeminster because I am responsible and I have respect for others.  I will also give out cupcakes for the whole class.J

And

I Am Canadian

Being Canadian is the best

I wouldn’t want to live in U.S.A

It is too crowded there

And Canada is not

Canada has a lot of beautiful places

Like Alberta and Quebec

One of the seven wonders of the world

Niagara Falls

I am lucky to live in Canada

So I don’t wan’t to live anywhere else

Canada is the best!

Here is his hockey speech:

He shoots, he scores!  What a goal!  Did you know that hockey is Canada’s most famous sport?  Ice hockey wasn’t invented.  It began as a game named field hurley by some students at a school in Windsor, Nova Scotia in the 1800's.  They wanted a game they could play on the ice in winter and so Ice Hurley began.  They played with wooden sticks and balls that looked like baseballs.  They then used pucks that were cut from tree branches.  Eventually Ice hockey came to be.

Today Hockey is very different than years ago.  Equipment has been added to protect the players.  They now wear helmets, neck protector, shoulder pads, elbow pads, a cup, hockey pants, shin pads, socks and ice skates.

There are many hockey leagues to play in.  There are 2 leagues players play in before they play professionally, Junior A and Junior B.  There is also an International Hockey League, American Hockey League and the National Hockey League.

Every boy’s dream is to play in the NHL and win the Stanley Cup.  There are other trophies for different things.  The most important are the Hart Trophy awarded to the NHL’s most valuable player.  The Norris Trophy, awarded to the top defenceman. The Art Ross Trophy goes to the top scorer.  The Vezina Trophy to the top goalie.

Some of my favourite hockey players are Mats Sundin, from the Toronto Maple Leafs. I like him because he is a

great player.  Joe Sakic, from the Colorado Avalanche, because he plays with a lot of heart.  Darcy Tucker, from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Because he is a tough hockey player, and never gives up.

Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche and Detroit Red Wings are my favourite teams because some of my favourite players are on these teams.

Wayne Gretzky is the greatest player ever to play hockey.  He began his professional career when he was 17.  He was the youngest player to play professionally.  He played for the Edmonton Oilers, and won four Stanley Cups with them.  He also played on Los Angeles, St. Louis and finished his career in 1999 with the New York  Rangers.  He holds 61 different records in the NHL.  The most important record he achieved was scoring the most goals which stands at 1072.

Hockey has come a long way from its beginning in Nova Scotia.  It is not only exciting to watch, but also to play.  Hockey is fast, exciting and action filled and is played around the world.
